Career & College Prep
What is the Student Advisory Council?
The Student Advisory Council is a select group of K12-powered students from around the country who serve as advisors for their peers and brand ambassadors for career prep and their schools. Through this paid internship opportunity, they provide valuable feedback and insight about their experiences with career readiness education.

Fall 2023 Cohort
Cristy Yarbrough
Insight School of Kansas
Career Field: Business: Business Management & Entrepreneurship
Grade: 10
Hobbies: Baking, singing, hanging out with friends, writing, and cooking
I chose the business pathway because my dad has his own business, and I look up to him a lot! I wanted to have my own business and sell my baked goods because I enjoy baking and making some cash doing what I love! So, after taking just two business classes (the ones from last year), I have my own baking business with my sister through social media!
Ellary Root
Insight School of Kansas
Career Field: Health & Bio Sciences: Certified Nursing Assistant
Grade: 12
Hobbies: Piano, guitar, baking/cooking, writing, art, swimming, and gaming
I chose my pathway because I have always been fascinated with the human body and how it works and grows. I love being able to help people in any way I can. I also wanted a career that would allow me to travel without stressing about finding a job.
