Meet Isaac: A Student with Big Dreams and a Passion for Cooking

Isaac is a student at Insight School of Kansas (ISKS) whose story is one of steady progress, quiet confidence, and a growing passion for culinary arts that continues to open new doors. As a student at ISKS, he balances schoolwork, daily responsibilities on his family farm, and college level culinary training with dedication that inspires everyone around him.

His love for cooking began because he enjoyed being in the kitchen and quickly realized he had a natural talent for it. With encouragement from his mom, Isaac has grown into a confident young chef. He even created his own recipe for “pizza bombs,” a family favorite, and used his culinary skills to help raise over $300 as part of the Chef Spotlight at Flint Hills Technical College (FHTC). The funds from that event went directly to support the culinary program, a meaningful way for Isaac to give back to the community that’s helping him grow.

One of the most meaningful parts of Isaac’s online learning experience has been the flexibility to explore interests beyond traditional coursework. One of the highlights of his K12 journey was a business class where he created a full business plan for his future food truck. That project helped him see his dream as something real and achievable.

Isaac’s academic journey has been filled with accomplishments he’s proud of. Competing in the SkillsUSA cooking competition gave him the chance to showcase his creativity and culinary talent.

Outside of school, Isaac stays connected through church groups, community activities, and K12 field trips when possible. At home, he continues experimenting in the kitchen and trying new recipes.

His mom has loved watching him grow through online learning. She describes the experience as rewarding and inspiring, especially as she’s seen him become more confident and capable.
