Balancing Online Learning and Seasonal Fun with Fall in Kansas

Fall is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the cooler weather and everything Kansas has to offer. As the leaves begin to change, students can find many ways to spend time outdoors, step away from their screens, and make memories with family and friends.

For students at Insight School of Kansas (ISKS), online learning can help build healthy routines that include everything from academics, hobbies, community activities and time to recharge.

Here are a few ways middle and high school students can make the most of fall in Kansas while staying on track with school.

Take Your Schoolwork Outside

During the school day, it’s important to get a change of scenery, and a fall day is the perfect opportunity to do this. Try taking an assignment, study guide, or any offline schoolwork outside.

Backyards, porches, local parks, or quiet outdoor spaces can be the perfect spot. Even taking a short walk between lessons or classes can be a great way to get some fresh fall air before returning to your schoolwork. The outdoors in fall can be an opportunity to go further into your learning and document the plants, changing leaves, or scenery as inspiration for artwork or writing.

ISKS combines online lessons with offline activities, so students have the opportunity to spend some time outside rather than in front of a computer.

Explore a Kansas Pumpkin Patch or Fall Festival

Pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and fall festivals are fun ways to spend time and celebrate the season with family or friends.

Throughout Kansas, you can find many seasonal activities throughout this season. A fall outing is the perfect event to look forward to as you complete your schoolwork.

Find Volunteer Opportunities

Fall is a great time to get involved with your community. Opportunities may be open at local food pantries, animal shelters, community events, parks or other organizations. Finding something that connects with your goals and interests can be such a fun and meaningful way to help during this season.

For high school students especially, volunteering can build valuable experiences, allow you to find community around you, and give back all at the same time.

Make Time to Connect with Friends

Online learning doesn’t mean you can’t connect with others.

Plan a movie night, carve pumpkins with friends, attend an event, or meet up for a nice fall hike. ISKS students have the opportunity to connect with their classmates through school activities and the K12 Zone, a virtual campus where students can socialize, participate in activities, play games, and attend virtual events.

Make the Most of Fall with ISKS

One of the benefits of online learning is being able to experience school in a way that fits your life. At ISKS, students in grades 7-12 can learn from home while making time for hobbies, community involvement, and seasonal activities this fall.

This fall, find a routine that allows you to stay focused on school while also enjoying the season. Interested in learning more about Insight School of Kansas? Explore our enrollment page to learn how online learning can support your family’s educational goals.
